Bob O’Leary, 67, is executive vice president and chief
financial officer of Cox Enterprises, Inc., one of the
nation’s leading media companies and providers of
automotive services. He is responsible for the company’s treasury,
financial reporting and control, tax and audit functions.
He is also responsible for business development, corporate
marketing, information technology, risk management and real
estate. He serves on the board of directors of Cox Enterprises.
O’Leary joined Cox in 1982 as vice president of finance for Cox Cable Communications (now Cox Communications, Inc.). Later that year, he was promoted to senior vice president of finance, and, in 1986, to senior vice president of finance and administration. In 1989, he was named senior vice president of operations, with responsibility for the Cox Communications western group, which included its two largest cable systems in San Diego and Phoenix. O’Leary was promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer of Cox Enterprises in August 1996 and named executive vice president and chief financial officer in December 1999.
Prior to Cox, O’Leary held a number of operating and corporate finance positions during his 20 years with General Electric Company.
O’Leary serves as vice chairman on the board of directors of the Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and is a magna cum laude graduate of Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in economic. O’Leary holds a master’s degree in business administration from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. He is also a member of Boston College’s Athletic Hall of Fame for middle and long-distance running.
